How to scope and propose a winnable issue
Where Winnable Issues Come From
They come from the participants in your Circle.
You’re not inventing problems; you’re listening to what people care about most.
Look for issues that generate energy, frustration, urgency, or hope.
How to Surface One in a Circle
Host an open discussion in your Circles where people can share challenges or opportunities they see locally.
Ask:
What’s broken around us that we can realistically fix?
What’s something small that could change lives if we act together?
Use sticky notes, whiteboards, or collaborative tools to collect and sort ideas.
What Makes an Issue Winnable?
Aligned with Logos values: decentralisation, privacy, open infrastructure, autonomy.
Has emotional weight: people feel strongly about it.
Tangible and achievable: something your Circle can take action on and see progress.
Already has roots: there are local individuals, groups, or organisations already working on it.
Use the checklist for the winnable issue found here to see if it is a good option.
Once You’ve Found One
Celebrate with your Circle. This is a big step!
Connect with any local organisers, groups, or stakeholders already involved. Ask how you can support.
Assign next steps: who’s documenting it? Who’s doing outreach? Who’s proposing it formally?
Post the issue on the Logos Forum:
Include: a short summary, why it matters, who’s involved, and what your Circle wants to do next.
This opens the door to broader community input and support.
